SOLARWATT KNOW-HOW

Solarwatt is active in all areas of photovoltaic applications, offering total solutions and excellent technical support - from small to medium sized applications for the home or small business, to customised applications suited for more specialised needs.

Stand-alone Photovoltaic Systems

These are suitable for permanent or country homes located at a distance from the grid. Apart from the photovoltaic modules and the inverter, a system for storing energy is also needed in the form of batteries.

The size of the photovoltaic systems always depends on each user’s needs. Our advice is that the system should be connected to a gas generator as a back-up.

Interconnected Photovoltaic Systems

These are photovoltaic systems that are linked to and work in tandem with the central power grid of the EAC. They do not have a system for storing energy (batteries). The electrical power they produce is distributed to the grid through a second meter. EAC will sign a 15 year contract with the producer whereby it will undertake to buy all the energy produced at the subsidised price of €0.225 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). EAC sends the producer a cheque every two months according to the amount registered on the second meter.

The largest system possible goes up to 20 kWp. Here, the photovoltaic modules are placed on stainless steel and aluminium bases. On flat surfaces (such as flat rooftops) it is possible to change the inclination of the photovoltaics three times a year in order to allow

up to 5-7% greater productivity.

Hybrid Systems

These combine photovoltaic systems and a generator. They are suitable for larger homesteads or businesses. The generator (ie: small wind turbine) can also be activated automatically in emergencies in order to charging the photovoltaic system.
